Liberty Elevator Sump Pumps and Systems
Elevator pits collect water, oil, and hydraulic fluid that must be managed before discharge to the sewer system. Liberty elevator sump pumps and oil-sensing systems are designed specifically for these regulated environments, where discharging oil-contaminated water violates environmental codes and can result in significant fines.
A standard sump pump cannot be used in an elevator pit because it would pump oil and water together into the sewer system. Liberty elevator systems solve this with oil-sensing controls that detect hydrocarbons in the pit water and prevent the pump from operating when oil is present. The system pumps only clean water and triggers an alarm when oil accumulates, allowing building maintenance to schedule proper removal by an environmental services contractor.
Systems are available in simplex (single pump) and duplex (dual pump with alternation) configurations. Duplex systems provide backup pumping and are required by code in many jurisdictions for elevator pits. Confirm your local building and environmental code requirements, pit dimensions, and discharge routing before selecting a system.
