SMD. 13. 7 . 1775. T. Ex. 6. 0H | The Grundfos range of horizontal submersible SMD mixers is designed for applications involving the mixing, i. e. the homogenisation and suspension, of low- to medium-viscosity liquids. The SMD mixers are fully made of stainless steel. The energy-efficient propeller is directly driven by the motor. The squirrel-cage induction motor is protected against overload by means of three bimetallic thermal switches (PTO) in the motor windings. Optionally three thermistors (PTC sensors) are available. The products are equipped with IE3 motor components. To prevent ingress of the surrounding liquid, the SMD mixers has a pre-sealing system being lip seals against a wear ring and as main sealing a double mechanical shaft seal cartridge consists of two mechanical seals. The outer seal is made of silicon carbide/silicon carbide and the inner sealing is Carbon ceramic. For mixers smaller than 2. 3hp an optional moisture switch can be built in and for mixers at 3. 0hp and higher the moisture switch is standard. In case of higher humidity the switch can be used to give an alarm. For mixers 3. 0hp and higher the oil-filled seal housing can be monitored for the ingress of water by an optional leak sensor incorporated in the seal housing. The sensor can trigger an alarm signal and/or switch off the motor by means of an external Grundfos relay, type ALR-20/A. The stainless-steel shaft rests on two ball bearings, lubricated for life. Motors range from 1. 3 to 4. 7 hp. A wide range of accessories made of stainless steel or galvanised steel ensures easy installation and long trouble-free operation.
