Description
The Crown PUMP pump, b40-9h, pump only. Barnes self-priming pumps are designed to meet a broad range of general and special industrial applications. Pumps are base mounted and are available with motors up to 150 HP. Series capacity up to 1,860 gpm at 184 ft head.
Self-Priming to 20 Feet — No Foot Valve Required
Built-in check valve enables self-priming to 20 feet without a foot valve or external priming. Re-primes automatically after momentary loss of prime — critical for installations where suction conditions vary.
Back Pull-Out Design — Service Without Breaking Piping
The casing pulls off the back of the motor without disconnecting suction or discharge piping. Seal and impeller are accessible from the motor face — significantly reducing labor on installed pumps.
Heavy-Duty Shaft — Extended Bearing and Seal Life
Oversized shaft resists deflection under the radial loads of self-priming operation. Shaft sizing is critical at maximum flow conditions — it directly determines bearing and mechanical seal service life.
Wide HP Range — One Series for Many Applications
Available from 1 to 150 HP — all models share the same casing dimensions and spare parts. Changing motor HP does not require repiping or new casing — reduces inventory and service complexity.
Multiple Construction Options
Bronze fitted, all-bronze, and all-iron construction with multiple seal material options. Specify the construction combination matched to your specific fluid chemistry and service conditions.

| Fluid compatibility | For use with liquids compatible with pump component materials. Verify chemical, temperature, and pressure compatibility before use. |
| Electrical | Requires a properly sized grounded branch circuit and motor starter with correctly rated thermal overload protection. |
| Operating limits | Do not exceed series pressure, temperature, and speed ratings. Operation outside rated limits causes premature seal and bearing failure. |
| Service | Disconnect and lockout/tagout power before any service. Allow pump to cool before handling after operation. |
